Dave Bautista bulks up to 250 pounds for Prime Video's God of War role

Dave Bautista is looking more like Kratos every day. The actor shared a video on his Instagram stories on November 1, 2026, showing off a significant physique update for his upcoming role in Prime Video's God of War series, according to /Film.
In the clip, Bautista flexes his muscles while sporting a beard and a God of War shirt. On-screen text reads "Gained 20lbs for GOW" and "250!", confirming he's packed on 20 pounds of muscle to reach a weight of 250 pounds.
This marks a return to a bulkier frame for the actor. Per /Film, Bautista had previously slimmed down to 240 pounds after playing a 315-pound role in 2023's Knock at the Cabin, a size he later called "uncomfortable" and said he "overdid."
Bautista was cast as Kratos in August 2026 after original actor Ryan Hurst tore his bicep on set. The actor began weight training immediately, posting a video in early September stating he had "2 more months to get to where I need to be."
GameSpot reports filming is set to resume soon on the series. With Bautista now hitting his target weight, it appears production is back on track to reshoot scenes originally filmed with Hurst.
