David Hyde Pierce Lines Up New NBC Sitcom Role
David Hyde Pierce is heading back to NBC for a new multi-camera sitcom, according to a Deadline report published by TVLine.
The untitled project is still in early development, with details under wraps. The report states Pierce will portray a man who learns the hard way that an unexamined life has consequences.
Marco Pennette, known for series like "Mom," is attached to write the pilot. Both Pennette and Pierce will serve as executive producers.
Pierce famously played Niles Crane for 11 seasons on the network's hit "Frasier," a role that earned him four Emmy Awards. He opted not to rejoin the recent Paramount+ revival of that series, with star Kelsey Grammer previously noting Pierce's choice not to revisit the character.
The new NBC comedy marks a potential return to broadcast television for the acclaimed actor.
