Braveheart gallops back to shelves in a new 4K steelbook release

Mel Gibson’s sword is getting another polish. His Oscar-winning epic 'Braveheart' is charging back onto physical media with a new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray steelbook release, per MovieWeb.

The release from Paramount Pictures is actually a reissue of the long-out-of-print 25th anniversary steelbook. The packaging features Gibson as William Wallace on the cover, raising his sword with his army behind him. The interior panels display his famous "They may take away our lives, but they'll never take our freedom" rallying cry.

The three-disc set includes a 4K transfer with Dolby Vision and HDR10, plus a Dolby Atmos audio mix. While Paramount hasn't detailed the special features, the three-disc configuration suggests all legacy bonus material will be included. This likely means the 'Braveheart: A Look Back' documentary, Gibson’s audio commentary, and historical featurettes.

Collectors can saddle up for this one on November 17, 2026. Pre-orders are already live at retailers like Amazon.
