Dragon's Dogma 2 Switch 2 version will use frame gen for 60fps feel

Dragon's Dogma 2 Switch 2 version will use frame gen for 60fps feel

Capcom is bringing a special performance trick to the Switch 2 version of Dragon's Dogma 2. According to Nintendo Life, producer Naoto Oyama told Famitsu that the game targets a base 30 frames per second.

The report states that a new "frame generation" option will be available at launch. When turned on, this function interpolates frames to create smooth visuals Oyama described as the "equivalent" of 60fps.

Oyama noted, per a translation provided by Nintendo Everything, that the interpolation can sometimes cause a slight ghosting effect in certain situations. However, the team judged the overall experience would not be significantly impaired.

The feature will be optional in the final product, allowing players to switch it on or off based on their preference for frame rate versus visual fidelity. Oyama said this marks the first time Capcom has used this technology on a Nintendo Switch 2 game.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is scheduled for release on Switch 2 next month. A character creator app is already available on the eShop for pre-launch preparation.
