Dune 3 runtime listed as shortest in franchise, designer teases 55-ton spaceship

The runtime for the final chapter of the Dune saga appears to be clocking in shorter than its predecessors, per listings reported by MovieWeb and JoBlo. AMC Theaters lists "Dune: Part Three" at 2 hours and 30 minutes. That's five minutes shorter than the 2021 original and a full 16 minutes shorter than the 2024 sequel, "Dune: Part Two."
According to MovieWeb, this is a change from an earlier IMAX listing in April that suggested a runtime of just 2 hours and 20 minutes. The outlet notes the film is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, the same day as Marvel's "Avengers: Doomsday," which could make for a long day at the theater for fans aiming to see both epics.
Meanwhile, Variety reports that production designer Patrice Vermette promises the film will be "a major spectacle." He teased the scale by comparing it to a fireworks finale, saying, "You know when you go see fireworks, and they put everything in, and at the end, it's 'Oh, we have this one.' It's going to be like that."
Vermette also revealed he created a 55-ton spaceship for the sci-fi epic. The designer's comments and the newly surfaced runtime suggest the concluding film will pack its spectacle into a slightly tighter package than the previous chapters.
