Elder Scrolls 6 reportedly to be dubbed 'Sentinel' with reveal next month

The long-awaited sequel to Skyrim may finally get a formal name, and it's the one fans have whispered for years. According to a report from The Verge, cited by multiple outlets including IGN and GameSpot, the game will be titled The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel.

The Verge, per the reports, claims the full title could be unveiled as soon as next month. The potential announcement is rumored to coincide with either the 15th anniversary of Skyrim or the 25th anniversary of Xbox.

If the report is accurate, the game will be set in the province of Hammerfell. IGN's summary of the report states the story will "dive into the history of the titular artifacts," referring to the Elder Scrolls themselves, letting players uncover their secrets firsthand.

Bethesda originally announced The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018, when it was reportedly in very early pre-production. Since the release of Starfield, the sequel is said to have become the studio's primary focus. However, fans should likely temper expectations for a quick release; the report suggests details may continue to trickle out ahead of a potential 2028 launch.
