Emmys 2026: every winner from the Primetime ceremony
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out Monday night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with Mariska Hargitay hosting on NBC and Peacock. The Pitt repeated as best drama, Apple's first-year comedy Widow's Bay swept its field, and HBO's DTF St. Louis took limited series. The full list of winners is below, after the records the night set.
Widow's Bay finished the season with 14 Emmys across the Creative Arts weekend and Monday's show, a win in every category it was nominated in and a single-season record for a comedy, passing the mark The Studio set a year ago. Monday alone brought it comedy series, lead actor for Matthew Rhys, supporting actress for Kate O'Flynn, supporting actor for Stephen Root, and directing and writing for Hiro Murai and Katie Dippold, both for the pilot.
Rhys did something no male performer had managed before: two lead acting Emmys in one night. He added lead actor in a limited series for Netflix's The Beast in Me to his comedy win, and with his 2018 drama award for The Americans he has now won in all three lead categories.
Jean Smart won lead actress in a comedy for Hacks for the fifth time, one for every season the show has aired. It was her eighth acting Emmy, a total that ties the record shared by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman, and by Allison Janney, who reached eight herself on the same night with supporting actress in a drama for The Diplomat.
Hacks otherwise had a rough evening. A record 24 nominations for a comedy turned into two wins, and The Bear, Abbott Elementary and Only Murders in the Building left Monday's telecast with nothing. On the drama side, Rhea Seehorn won her first Emmy, lead actress for Pluribus, and Vince Gilligan took drama writing for the same show. Noah Wyle repeated as lead actor for The Pitt, which came in with 25 nominations, the most of any series, and ends the season with seven wins.
By outlet, Apple TV led everyone with 28 Emmys across both ceremonies, its first time on top of the table, ahead of HBO and HBO Max with 21 and Netflix with 16.
Hargitay was the first woman to host the ceremony since 2011. She opened with a pre-taped Law & Order sketch in which Olivia Benson investigated whether Taylor Swift would be in the room, and Swift turned up in it, before a musical number that roped in Knicks guard Jalen Brunson. Michael J. Fox received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award to a standing ovation, and Macaulay Culkin, Annie Murphy and Dan Levy paid tribute to Catherine O'Hara.
