GTA 6 TV ad cuts shower scenes for longer shots and PlayStation-only branding

The first TV commercial for Grand Theft Auto VI has aired, and it's a slightly sanitized version of the launch trailer. Per IGN, the 90-second ad, which debuted during NBA games on NBC Sports, removed all three of the 'shower smooching' scenes featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia.
With those steamy moments cut, other sequences in the trailer got extended by a few frames. According to reports from both IGN and Kotaku, fans spotted a longer shot of a plane and a slightly extended clip where Jason nudges Lucia as they lean on a car.
The TV spot also scrubbed any mention of Xbox as a platform. IGN notes this is part of Sony's exclusive marketing partnership for the game, which has seen all official footage captured on PS5. The ad's messaging implies PlayStation is 'the only place to play,' a point Sony is likely pushing ahead of the November 19 release.
Kotaku reports the ad aired during multiple NBA season opening night games, including Knicks vs. 76ers and Pistons vs. Celtics. One viewer online said seeing the date on a living room TV made the impending release feel 'a lot more real.'
The marketing blitz extends beyond TV. IGN reports that Miami, the real-life inspiration for the game's Vice City setting, is currently 'completely taken over' with promotions, including pop-up Burger Shot restaurants and branded sports cars filming live-action ads.
