Halloween Game’s Sex Minigame Quietly Vaporized After Viral Clip
IllFonic’s multiplayer survival horror title Halloween: The Game has already seen its first major content removal, per multiple gaming outlets. A sex minigame that allowed characters to hook up in a closet for a stat boost is now gone, reportedly patched out in a recent hotfix.
According to IGN and Kotaku, the issue came to light after a viral clip showed the character Samuel Loomis, a 56-year-old psychiatrist modeled after the late actor Donald Pleasence, engaging in the minigame with the 17-year-old character Lynda van der Klok. The game features a roster of teenage characters from the films, making Loomis’s potential participation a glaring oversight.
IllFonic provided a statement to IGN, calling it a removal of the “Two-Person Power-Up minigame” due to “an unintended issue that allowed end game reinforcement characters to engage with the minigame.” The developer labeled it a “major oversight.” The patch notes for the hotfix did not mention the removal, but players on Reddit and Steam quickly confirmed the minigame was missing.
PC Gamer notes that the character Lynda, who previously had a trait linked to the minigame, has also had that trait removed. The outlet reports that player reaction has been swift, with many on social media and forums demanding the feature’s return, albeit with restrictions on older characters like Loomis.
Halloween: The Game is currently in early access for Deluxe Edition pre-order holders, with a full launch scheduled for September 8. The developer has stated its current focus is on “immediate game needs.”
