Jennifer Lawrence calls Hunger Games return 'so emotional' and 'crazy'

Jennifer Lawrence just spilled the beans on her return to Panem for the new Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping. In an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, reported by /Film and JoBlo, she described the experience as "unbelievable" and "so emotional."
Lawrence said the reunion felt incredibly special, as much of the original crew was back, including a first assistant director she's worked with many times. She also gushed about reuniting with her former co-stars.
"Josh [Hutcherson] and I didn't walk to the bathroom without our arms around each other. It was so beautiful," Lawrence said, per /Film. She also joked about Woody Harrelson's antics, claiming he "came through the window of my hotel room uninvited."
The new film, directed by Francis Lawrence, is set 24 years before the original Hunger Games and focuses on the 50th Hunger Games, where a young Haymitch Abernathy competes. Lawrence confirmed Woody Harrelson will reprise his role as an older Haymitch in the project.
While it's unclear how Katniss and Peeta appear in the prequel, their return marks the first time the characters have been seen on screen in over a decade. Lionsgate's The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to hit theaters on November 20, 2026.
