Joyce Carol Oates defends Nolan's 'Odyssey' film against translator's viral slam
Author Joyce Carol Oates has leapt to the defense of Christopher Nolan's upcoming film 'The Odyssey' after a translator's scathing review went viral, per Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
Oates slammed translator Emily Wilson for her critical take, accusing her of using 'the crude language of MAGA folks' in her attack on the film. Wilson had penned a viral critique of Nolan's interpretation of Homer's epic.
The celebrated author argued that filmmakers have every right to reimagine classic stories. 'No reason why Nolan, or anyone else, should not re-imagine/re-envision a classical hero,' Oates stated, according to THR.
