Ali G: Who Iz I? hits Prime Video Wednesday after two-day theatrical run

Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie as his alter ego Ali G is heading to your couch. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Ali G: Who Iz I?' will begin streaming on Prime Video this Wednesday.

The comedy just had a super-limited two-day run in theaters over the weekend, a strategy Amazon MGM Studios used to create a special big-screen event before its streaming debut. The film marks Baron Cohen's first time directing a feature.

In character, the star posted to Instagram to hype the release. He boasted, in Ali G's unique style of writing, that viewers could stream the movie an absurd number of times every single day at no extra cost.

The plot follows Ali G learning his girlfriend, played by Morgana Robinson, is eight months pregnant. This sends him to America to get ready for the baby. The movie uses the same provocative comedy style as Baron Cohen's 'Borat' and 'Brüno' films, where real people become unwitting targets.

Per THR, the lead-up to release saw an AI-generated email campaign trying to get theaters to boycott the film, but no major chains participated. Amazon MGM did not share any box office numbers from the brief theatrical weekend.
