Kratos' God of War Story Continues With Laufey Sequel

Kratos is coming back for another round of divine smashing. At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Santa Monica Studio creative head Cory Barlog announced a new game starring the Ghost of Sparta, according to IGN and GameSpot.

The new adventure will pick up directly after the events of the upcoming "God of War Laufey," which is set for release on February 16, 2027. The announcement means players will follow Kratos's journey immediately after experiencing Faye's own story.

Barlog made the brief but major announcement at the convention, confirming that the franchise's main face will lead the charge once more. The sequel's announcement came paired with the release date reveal for "God of War Laufey."
