Lanterns Kills Two Major Characters And Hal Gives Up The Ring In Episode 5

A 2007 flashback showed a young Kerry being saved from thugs by Zoe, who then secured the future doctor's lifelong loyalty with a promise of protection. Back in 2016, a trapped John Stewart watched Hal Jordan walk away, leaving him in a burning car. Zoe arrived but merely observed as the flames engulfed him.
Hal confronted Kerry, who warned him that Zoe would destroy the town to get to him and that the consequences would be on his head. Meanwhile, a badly burned John awoke in a hospital bed, tended by Zoe, who confirmed she is a Manhunter. She offered to heal him completely in exchange for ensuring Hal's death, promising John would get the Green Lantern ring.
After healing John, Zoe received a call from Will, who was ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. Anton then entered Will's office and, after testing him, determined he was human and not the Manhunter. Anton stabbed and killed Will, ripping out his heart.
As red beams from the sky began destroying Rushville, Hal located Zoe's helicopter. He cuffed her to it, but she ordered the water tower blown, creating blinding black clouds. Using stolen protective glasses, Hal saw Anton approaching through the chaos.
