Live-action Ace Combat 8 prequel Hour Zero stars Josh Holloway, Brandon Routh
Bandai Namco is launching a live-action series to set up the story for the upcoming game Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. IGN exclusively revealed the four-part miniseries, titled Hour Zero, starring Josh Holloway and Brandon Routh.
According to IGN, the show follows three strangers surviving the early days of a fictional war. Holloway plays a pilot, Routh is a doctor, and Tamlyn Tomita portrays a news anchor. Bandai Namco states their stories lead directly into the game's campaign mode.
In an interview with IGN, Holloway said the series brought him back to gaming. He mentioned acting in the cockpit scenes fulfilled a childhood fantasy of being a fighter pilot, a dream sparked by old TV shows and movies.
Collider reports Holloway also connected to the role through personal loss, as his character loses a father. He praised the production for using a real jet cockpit, which gave him respect for real pilots.
Holloway told IGN his top tip for the game is to 'be aggressive.' Players who buy the Deluxe Edition can start playing on September 29. The full launch for everyone is scheduled for October 2.
