Netflix cancels romantic drama 'Ransom Canyon' after two seasons
Netflix has pulled the plug on 'Ransom Canyon', according to The Hollywood Reporter. The streamer will not be moving forward with a third season of the Texas-set romantic drama.
The show, created by April Blair, starred Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly. It followed the lives of three ranching families in a small Texas town as they battled over land, legacies, and love. The second season, which premiered on July 23, consisted of eight episodes.
The cancellation also affects local production in New Mexico, where the series filmed. New Mexico Film previously reported that the show's second season employed over 700 local residents, including crew, principal actors, and background performers.
A statement from the New Mexico Film Office director had called the show's return for season two a 'powerful statement' about the state's production capabilities and its partnership with Netflix.
