Netflix orders 'Prep' YA series from 'One Day' creator Nicole Taylor

Netflix is moving forward with 'Prep,' a new YA drama series based on the popular novel by Curtis Sittenfeld. Variety reports the streamer has issued a straight-to-series order for the project.

The show will follow Lee Fiora, a teenager from Indiana who leaves her home to attend an elite boarding school in Massachusetts. Per the official description, it's a coming-of-age story about her experience as a scholarship student trying to find her place among wealthy, self-assured peers.

Nicole Taylor, who created Netflix's recent hit 'One Day,' will write the adaptation and run the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will also executive produce alongside Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Alix Taylor from Gloria Sanchez Productions. Author Curtis Sittenfeld is also on board as an executive producer.

In a statement provided to both outlets, Taylor called 'Prep' her 'all time favourite novel' and said she has wanted to adapt it for two decades. Sittenfeld said she is 'overjoyed' by the adaptation and praised Taylor's scripts as 'truly brilliant.'

The novel was first published in 2005 and became a bestseller. This marks the first time one of Sittenfeld's novels has been adapted for the screen.
