Netflix's 'Minimum Wage' serves up short episodes with a cheap-looking, youthful cast

Netflix has a new short-form series that leans into quick episodes, per a review in The Hollywood Reporter. 'Minimum Wage' is an adaptation of a web series and will release its first season in two batches of 14 episodes each.
The episodes reportedly run between 12 and 20 minutes. The review notes that the show moves fast but can feel padded, and its visual style looks noticeably low-budget on a large screen.
The cast is made up of young creators who also write and direct. They play employees at a pizza shop in upstate New York, with characters largely sharing the actors' real names. Randall Park of 'Fresh Off the Boat' is listed as the biggest name involved.
The Hollywood Reporter's assessment points out the show's lack of diversity, describing its world as predominantly straight and Caucasian with conventional storylines. Despite this, the series is called an amusing and energetic binge due to its pace and frequent bursts of talent from its emerging cast.
