Noah Reid to lead potential Sheriff Country medical spinoff for CBS
Noah Reid is trading Schitt's Creek for a hospital ER. According to reports from TheWrap and Variety, the actor is set to guest star in the upcoming second season of CBS's Sheriff Country, with his appearance intended to launch a new medical drama spinoff.
Reid will play Dr. Hudson “Hud” Henshaw, the head of emergency medicine at Edgewater Memorial Hospital. The character is described as having a sharp mind and likable demeanor, but with a gritty, unconventional background. He hails from a notorious area called Deadwater and is the child of imprisoned criminals, though he reportedly financed his medical education without their illicit funds. The official bio says he's dedicated to his medical vows but won't back down from a physical scrap, and is a driven professional tied to his hometown.
Per Variety, his two-episode arc on Sheriff Country will act as a backdoor pilot. If CBS approves the project, Reid would become the lead in a new series focusing on healthcare workers in Edgewater, California. This would expand the television franchise that started with Fire Country.
TVLine notes that the potential series is in early development and would be executive produced by the teams behind both Sheriff Country and Fire Country, including Max Thieriot, Jerry Bruckheimer, and showrunner Matt Lopez. Sheriff Country and Fire Country are scheduled to return with new episodes on October 9.
