Prime Video Pulls the Plug on Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer's 'Ride or Die'
Amazon's streaming service has ended the road trip for "Ride or Die" after a single season. Variety confirmed the cancellation of the buddy dramedy starring Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer.
The show, which premiered all eight episodes this past July, followed best friends Debbie and Judith. According to the official logline, Judith's secret life as an international assassin forces the duo to flee across Europe, pursued by law enforcement and criminals.
TVLine reports the axing is somewhat unexpected, as the series performed well on Nielsen's streaming charts. It reportedly spent five consecutive weeks in the Top 10 for original programming across all platforms.
The supporting cast featured Ed Skrein, Bill Nighy, and Sylvia Hoeks, among others. The series was created by Tessa Coates, with Matt Miller as showrunner and Peyton Reed directing.
The project was a co-production between Paramount Television Studios, Amazon MGM Studios, and production companies run by Andy and Barbara Muschietti and star Octavia Spencer.
