Terminally Ill GTA 6 Fan Dies Weeks Before Game's Launch

The gaming community is mourning a fan who died just weeks before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. According to IGN, a terminally ill fan named Jerry, known online as Void Only, passed away over the weekend.

Jerry's story went viral in August after a TikTok video where he revealed he was hospitalized with interstitial lung disease and needed a transplant. He humorously noted his wish to live long enough to play GTA 6, referencing Rockstar's many delays for the title. A GoFundMe raised $50,000 for his medical needs, and he received a transplant in September.

Despite the surgery, Jerry suffered complications and eventually lost function of his body. His sister confirmed his death via social media, telling supporters he was extremely appreciative of their help. He had reportedly planned to stream GTA 6 with his community upon its release.

Fans flooded the comments on his sister's post with tributes. One pledged to add 'Void' to their gamertag in his honor when GTA releases. Jerry's mother is planning a balloon release in his memory, per his sister.

Collider reports that GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. The outlet notes the game will feature two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, whose in-game relationship dynamics will affect dialogue and mission availability.
