The Diplomat season 4 trailer teases a White House war
A new trailer for The Diplomat's fourth season shows Keri Russell's Kate Wyler in a major bind. According to Variety, she's dealing with the aftermath of a secret operation by the President and Vice President. The President, played by Allison Janney, and the Veep, played by Rufus Sewell, stole a powerful Russian weapon without telling the UK.
TVLine reports that Kate bluntly tells her husband Hal, "You stole it." She's worried the pair are "dangerous" together and asks, "Who pumps the brakes when it's you two in the room?"
The logline for the season, per Variety, says "two marriages threaten to eat each other alive." Kate's shaky truce between the US and UK is shattered. She and Todd, played by Bradley Whitford, must team up to stop the President and VP from starting a war.
In the clip, Kate confronts the President directly. She tells Grace her "tolerance for risk to human life seems higher than it was." Todd also suspects something's wrong with his wife and suggests moving to London, forcing Kate to fake enthusiasm.
Kate hatches her own risky plan to stop them. A colleague played by Ali Ahn asks, "Please tell me you're not doing this." The season's eight episodes will all hit Netflix on October 15.
