Searchlight Pictures is making a sequel to the 2005 holiday movie 'The Family Stone', per an announcement from the studio. Titled 'The Families Stone', the project will bring back writer-director Tom Bezucha and a large portion of the original ensemble.
The returning cast includes Rachel McAdams, Claire Danes, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, and Luke Wilson. According to TheWrap, Elizabeth Reaser, Tyrone Giordano, Paul Schneider, and Brian White are also set to reprise their roles.
The studio's official logline sets the story twenty years after the matriarch's death. The plot kicks off when the Stone family gathers for Christmas and learns their father has a new romantic partner he wants them to meet.
