The Odyssey dominates Korean box office, leaving Spider-Man in the dust
Christopher Nolan's latest epic is crushing it overseas. According to Variety, The Odyssey held a commanding lead at the South Korean box office over the September 4-6 weekend.
The film generated $5.9 million from 698,384 admissions during that three-day period. It played on 1,858 screens and captured over 60% of the total market share.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day was left in the dust, coming in second place. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the domestic box office was also quiet over the Labor Day holiday, with these two films leading the pack.
The outlet adds that the Spider-Man feature is aiming to become the top-grossing movie of all time domestically, while The Odyssey secured the number two spot in the U.S.
