Coyote vs Acme Outgrosses Supergirl in Warner Bros Summer Shocker
According to MovieWeb, the movie 'Coyote vs. Acme' has now earned over $126 million at the box office. That means it has officially passed the earnings of 'Supergirl' to become the highest-grossing film produced by Warner Bros. this summer.
There's a major catch, however. The film was released by Ketchup Entertainment, which gets the theatrical money. So while Warner Bros. produced the summer's top earner, it won't directly profit from that success.
The report notes the film had a solid opening of $15.9 million in late August, coming in second to 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'. It then held on unusually well, dropping only 29% in its second weekend.
The plot follows Wile E. Coyote taking legal action against the company that supplies his faulty gadgets. The film, which was once shelved and written off for taxes, is now winding down its theatrical run and is available on digital platforms.
