HBO Max's drama series The Pitt was the big winner at the 2026 Emmy Awards, per TVLine. It took home the top prize for Outstanding Drama Series, marking its second consecutive win in the category. Star Noah Wyle also repeated his victory as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama.
In the comedy field, the night belonged to Apple TV's freshman series Widow's Bay, which upset the heavily nominated Hacks to win Outstanding Comedy Series. The show also earned acting trophies for Matthew Rhys, Kate O'Flynn, and Stephen Root, plus awards for directing and writing.
Jean Smart made history, according to TVLine. Her win for Lead Actress in a Comedy for Hacks is her fifth in the category, making her the first performer to win for every season of a series.
Matthew Rhys had a standout evening, securing two major awards. He won Lead Actor in a Comedy for Widow's Bay and also claimed the trophy for Lead Actor in a Limited Series for his role in Netflix's The Beast in Me.
