Tom Hardy Returns to MobLand as Season 2 Kicks Off with a Bang
Tom Hardy is officially back for a third season of Paramount+'s "MobLand," Variety reports. The outlet confirmed earlier rumors of a falling out between Hardy and executive producer Jez Butterworth after Season 2 wrapped, but a recent meeting in London resolved the conflict. Co-star Helen Mirren offered her support, calling Hardy "absolutely remarkable."
Season 2 of the crime drama premieres this Friday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new episodes open with a massacre at a dog track, putting the Harrigan crime family back in action. Pierce Brosnan, who plays patriarch Conrad, described the season as "pure lunacy" that kicks off with "many bangs."
The plot follows Hardy's fixer character, Harry Da Souza, as he cleans up messes for the increasingly unstable Harrigans while his own personal life falls apart. Per Variety, Harry's marriage is troubled and his teenage daughter has run off, but his focus remains on the crime family.
Brosnan and Mirren praised their co-stars, including new additions like Janet McTeer and Johnny Flynn. Brosnan told THR the scripts from showrunner Jez Butterworth are brilliant, while Mirren placed her role as matriarch Maeve Harrigan among her top four career performances.
With Hardy's return secured, the actors are now looking ahead. "We're sitting here now more or less waiting in the wings to see what is revealed in the third season," Brosnan said.
