Ubisoft Says Black Flag Remake Blew Past Goals Weeks After Developer Layoffs
Ubisoft is celebrating a massive launch for its new version of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, but the success comes with a bitter aftertaste. The publisher told PC Gamer the remake has already "exceeded annual expectations" in just two weeks.
That news, however, arrived shortly after Ubisoft laid off a number of the developers who worked on the project. The report notes the success is linked to a surge in video game piracy, though Ubisoft's statement did not address that connection.
