The film
A group of international passengers on a flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai is forced to make an emergency landing in shark-infested waters. The terrified group is forced to work together and overcome their differences if they hope to escape their sinking plane and the frenzy of sharks drawn to the wreckage.
The reaction to this survival thriller is all over the map, with most people finding it either just okay or a letdown. The premise, a sinking plane and sharks, should be a slam dunk, but people call the story thin and deeply unoriginal. Aaron Eckhart's Ben and Ben Kingsley's Rich don't get much love from the crowd that mentioned them, and the few who brought up Molly Belle Wright's Cora or the sharks themselves weren't impressed either. The only thing that gets a mild pass is the look of the film, but that's not enough to save it for most.
