Showrunner Rashad Raisani told the outlet the villain targets Nashville as punishment for how it has changed over 15 years. The first responders are initially unaware the disasters are man-made.
Newcomer Ryan Phillippe arrives as Detective Rogue, who begins to suspect a pattern behind the seemingly random catastrophes. His character provides a key assist to the struggling team.
The spin-off's entire main cast is returning for the new season, avoiding the franchise's past trend of losing a major star after year one. Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on October 15 on ABC, airing after 9-1-1's season opener and before a new Grey's Anatomy episode.
