Alan Ritchson claims a 'Reacher' season based on 'Die Trying' was canceled
According to Variety, Alan Ritchson revealed a specific season of his Prime Video show "Reacher" was scrapped for political reasons. Responding to a fan on Threads, the star said adapting the novel "Die Trying" was his "favorite book" and that he "had it approved until someone got re-elected."
The Hollywood Reporter notes the fan was disappointed the show hadn't tackled the 1998 book, which involves Jack Reacher fighting a white supremacist militia that kidnaps a politician's daughter. Ritchson's comment implied the project was canceled following an election.
While Ritchson didn't name the politician, both outlets report he has been publicly critical of Donald Trump in the past. Variety mentions he previously commented on the Epstein files, and The Hollywood Reporter cites a podcast where Ritchson made sharp criticisms of Trump.
Season 5 of "Reacher" is already confirmed to adapt a different book, "Make Me." The Hollywood Reporter states they have reached out to Prime Video for comment on Ritchson's claim.
