Apple TV Dominates 2026 Emmys as 'Widow's Bay' Breaks Comedy Record
Apple TV's streaming service emerged as the big winner at the 2026 Emmy Awards, securing a total of 28 statuettes according to Variety.
This victory was powered by a historic sweep for the comedy 'Widow's Bay,' which won all 14 of its categories. Per The Hollywood Reporter, this sets a new single-season record for any comedy series, beating the previous mark set by Apple's 'The Studio' last year. The show's wins included the top prize for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Variety reports that the show's creator, Katie Dippold, earned an Emmy for writing the series, while Hiro Murai won for directing it. Stars Matthew Rhys, Kate O'Flynn, and Stephen Root also took home acting trophies, and Betty Gilpin won for a guest appearance.
The strong showing from 'Widow's Bay' propelled Apple TV to first place in the studio rankings for the first time ever. HBO Max finished second with 21 wins, driven by seven awards each for the drama 'The Pitt' and the limited series 'DTF St. Louis.'
Netflix came in third with 16 total awards spread across shows like 'Beef' and 'Bridgerton.'
