Ben Wang in talks to play Iceman in Marvel's X-Men reboot

Ben Wang may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe's frozen core. According to a report from Deadline, the actor is in negotiations to portray Bobby Drake, better known as Iceman, in the upcoming X-Men film reboot.

Per Variety, the movie's ensemble already includes stars like Sadie Sink and Kit Connor, with Adam Driver set to play the villain Mister Sinister. The report states the film is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028.

Wang's potential casting fits a reported strategy from Marvel to populate the new mutant team with rising stars rather than established A-listers. /Film notes this approach is seen as a way to manage budget after recent box office challenges for the MCU.

The actor is coming off high-profile projects, having starred in last year's Karate Kid film and with a role in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping. He also starred in the recent Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk.

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige first revealed the core cast for the reboot at the D23 event last August. Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts, is set to direct the new X-Men.
