Johnny Depp would return to Pirates 6 to give the franchise a proper farewell

Johnny Depp has opened up about a potential return as Captain Jack Sparrow. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor said he'd only reprise the role if the story serves as a fitting conclusion, according to Variety.

Depp stated his primary motivation would be to ensure the franchise gets a proper and satisfying ending. He emphasized his loyalty to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, saying he'd work with him on anything and trusts him completely.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously told Entertainment Weekly he's spoken to Depp about the project. Bruckheimer indicated that the actor's return hinges on the quality of the script, which is still in development under writer Jeff Nathanson.

Bruckheimer has also expressed his personal desire to have Depp back in the role he famously created, calling him a friend and an amazing artist. The producer noted that Nathanson's current draft has a strong third act but needs work on the first two.
