Neve Campbell confirms Sidney will slash again in Scream 8

Sidney Prescott is officially strapping on her running shoes for another Ghostface encounter. Per Variety and MovieWeb, Neve Campbell has confirmed she will reprise her signature role in the upcoming Scream 8.

The actress directly stated, "I'll be in it," and noted that the sequel is currently "in the pipeline," according to Deadline's reporting cited by MovieWeb. She declined to share any plot details or a potential release date.

While the project has no director attached, Lilla and Nora Zuckerman were hired to write the script in March 2026, as reported by the outlet. It remains unknown if the writers are incorporating an idea for the eighth film that Campbell previously pitched.

The confirmation follows the box office performance of Scream 7, which MovieWeb notes opened with $63.6 million and ultimately earned $213.8 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing entry in the series.

It's unclear who will join Campbell. MovieWeb indicates that actress Melissa Barrera has stated she will not come back to the franchise under its current ownership at Skydance Pictures. The outlet also notes that the late Hayden Panettiere, who played Kirby Reed, will not return.
