Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 details revealed with new maps and DMZ area

Activision has confirmed a massive content drop for the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, according to a report from IGN.

The season kicks off on November 6 with three new multiplayer maps. These include Backstab, set in a snowy village, and Canyon, located in a desert. A reimagined version of the fan-favorite map Shoot House, updated to fit the game's Korean setting, will also be available at launch. Three additional maps are promised throughout the season.

New weapons on the way take inspiration from classic Modern Warfare armories, including items resembling the FMG9 and AA-12. A tomahawk and a gun called the Cronen Osprey are also coming. New weapon attachments will let players modify guns like the M4 with a burst-fire option.

For the DMZ extraction mode, a new area called X01 will open. IGN describes it as a dimly lit, labyrinthine facility filled with high-value loot and significant threats. The update also brings new bosses and upgrades to the Forward Operating Base.

The season will reintroduce classic modes like Infection, Grind, and Drop Zone. A new battle pass will offer skins and unlocks, with Activision reportedly sticking to a more grounded aesthetic and avoiding outlandish cosmetic collaborations for now.
