Capcom aims for yearly Resident Evil releases, leaning on remakes

Capcom apparently wants to pump out a Resident Evil game every single year. According to PC Gamer, the company sees remakes as the key to hitting that ambitious annual target, and they think the strategy has been working great so far.

Kotaku reports that the goal of a new Resident Evil every year isn't just about churning out sequels. Executive producer Masachika Kawata says the steady success of the franchise actually helps fund riskier, more experimental projects.

This approach, per Kawata, is what enables the development of new IPs like Pragmata, while other studios might get bogged down by one massive project.
