Celeste and TowerFall Yanked from Xbox Store Over BDS Boycott

You can't buy two beloved indie games on Xbox anymore. Developer Maddy Thorson confirmed that both Celeste and TowerFall have been delisted from the Xbox store, according to reports from IGN, Kotaku, and Rock Paper Shotgun.

Thorson stated on Bluesky that the removal was done "to support the BDS boycott," IGN reported. The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement urges action against companies it says are involved with the Israeli government.

This marks the second high-profile indie developer to take action against Xbox this month. Kotaku notes that House House previously announced its cooperative game Big Walk would not release on the platform, citing the same BDS call for a Microsoft boycott.

Rock Paper Shotgun reports the BDS movement designated Microsoft and Xbox as priority boycott targets last year, citing the company's provision of AI software and other services to the Israeli military. Both Celeste and TowerFall remain available for purchase on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC storefronts.
