Dave Bautista reports 20-pound muscle gain for his upcoming Kratos role

Dave Bautista is flexing his commitment to the God of War series by packing on even more mass.

In a new video posted to his Instagram, the actor declared he has put on 20 pounds for the project, accompanied by a sticker noting his weight as 250. He was seen wearing a God of War t-shirt in the clip, per Variety.

The muscle gain is for his portrayal of Kratos in the Prime Video adaptation, a role he took over from Ryan Hurst. Hurst was reportedly injured during production, requiring a recast. As a result, every scene originally shot with Hurst will be filmed again with Bautista.

The series, which received a two-season order, will adapt the story from the recent video games. It follows Kratos and his young son Atreus as they travel to fulfill a final wish for their deceased wife and mother, Faye. Their quest explores their strained relationship and differing natures.

Filming commenced in Vancouver earlier this year, with the two seasons scheduled to be shot consecutively.
