Final Fantasy 6 remake would need four to five full games, Yoshi-P says
Final Fantasy fans dreaming of a remake for the classic sixth entry might want to settle in for a very, very long haul. According to VGC, series producer Naoki 'Yoshi-P' Yoshida stated that doing Final Fantasy 6 justice would require it to be split across "four or five games."
Yoshi-P made the comments at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest in Berlin this weekend. He cautioned eager players, saying, "I understand the feelings of the players but you've got to think about it," per the report.
The comment suggests any future remakes of older Final Fantasy titles would be even more sprawling than the current Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, which is already three games long. Eurogamer notes that Yoshi-P's estimate means fans should "prepare for them to be even bigger."
While it's not a confirmation of any such project, the producer's remarks highlight the massive scale modern remakes of these classic, story-dense RPGs would demand.
