First Look Photos and Wild Interrogation Details for Blade Runner 2099
New images from Amazon's upcoming Blade Runner 2099 have surfaced, per MovieWeb, offering a first look at the show's cast and distinct visual style.
The photos, released by Entertainment Weekly, feature stars Hunter Schafer and Michelle Yeoh. One image shows Schafer's character Cora with co-stars Lewis Gribben and Dimitri Abold, while another captures Yeoh's Olwen with a weapon drawn. The show's aesthetic is described as a "sunshine noir," a deliberate shift from the constant rain of the original film.
Schafer shared wild details about filming a major interrogation scene with Yeoh. She described being strapped to a platform, flipped upside down, sprayed with a hose, and covered in a replicant-healing goo. "The amount of substances that I was covered in was kind of absurd," she said. Schafer added that Yeoh's character was "stoic and scary" in the scene, and that Yeoh was "having a lot of fun with that scene being menacing."
Showrunner Silka Luisa previously outlined the show's premise, noting a replicant uprising has occurred between the events of Blade Runner 2049 and 2099. "The replicants are now the power brokers of the city. And humans are the second-class citizens," Luisa said.
Blade Runner 2099, which has been finished for nearly two years, is scheduled to premiere with all eight episodes on Prime Video on November 25.
