Friday sequel Last Friday locks in a director after 25-year wait

The long-delayed fourth Friday movie is finally moving ahead with a director on board. According to MovieWeb, Lawrence Lamont has officially signed on to helm the project, titled Last Friday.

Lamont is coming off the 2025 comedy One of Them Days. Ice Cube is set to return to the franchise, reprising his role as Craig Jones and serving as a writer and producer on the film. Per the report, producers Bob Teitel and Michael Gruber are also involved.

The original Friday, released in 1995, starred Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. It was followed by two sequels in the early 2000s. The new installment will mark Ice Cube's first time back in the role in nearly 25 years, as noted by JoBlo.

Details on the plot or a release window remain under wraps, as the project is still in early development. All three previous films in the series are currently available to stream on Pluto TV.
