Trailer for Peter Berg’s WWII football epic The Mosquito Bowl hits Netflix
Netflix just dropped a red-band trailer for Peter Berg’s upcoming war drama The Mosquito Bowl, per Collider.
The film, based on Buzz Bissinger’s nonfiction book, follows four star college football players who enlist in the Marines after Pearl Harbor. As they train for the invasion of Okinawa, they take part in a legendary football game that will be the last for many of them.
The cast includes Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis as the core players-turned-Marines. According to MovieWeb, the new trailer doesn’t shy away from graphic war violence, contrasting brutal trench combat with hard-hitting football scenes.
Berg, who co-wrote the script with Mark L. Smith, also appears in the film as General Buckner. The director has a future military project lined up, as he’s attached to helm a live-action Call of Duty adaptation for Paramount.
The Mosquito Bowl is set for a theatrical rollout starting October 30, with a Netflix streaming premiere following on November 25.
