Gorilla Grodd Spotted in Smart Attire on Set of New DC Series
The first photos from the set of the DC Universe series The People Vs Gorilla Grodd have emerged, per /Film. The images, posted by AtlantaDCFans on social media, show a practical gorilla suit being used for the super-intelligent ape.
In the set photos, Grodd is seen wearing smart attire, including a cap and gown, suggesting a graduation scene set on a college campus. The shoot appears to be taking place at Georgia Tech, which is reportedly standing in for Metropolis University in the series.
While the on-set suit is practical, outlet DCFilmNews speculates it may just be a placeholder for CGI in the final product. Another report from the set suggests the voice of actor Jimmy Tatro, who is voicing Grodd, could be heard being played over a sound system.
The series, officially greenlit for eight episodes on HBO Max, is described as a true-crime mockumentary directed by Jimmy Olsen, a role reprised by Skyler Gisondo from the upcoming Superman film. According to a logline reported by Variety, Olsen reinvestigates whether Grodd was wrongly convicted for murdering his father.
Filming is now underway in Atlanta, with the set photos confirming the production's college campus setting just weeks after the series was officially announced.
