GTA 6's New 'Criminal Profile' Scales from 'Professional' to 'Irredeemable'

Rockstar Games is giving players a new way to define their felony style in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. According to a PC Gamer report, the game will feature a "Criminal Profile" system that tracks player actions on a scale from "Professional" to "Irredeemable."
Rockstar North's co-studio head Rob Nelson detailed the system in an interview with Edge magazine, per the report. The profile, represented by angel and devil icons, will track the actions of protagonists Lucia and Jason throughout the game. Nelson stated the system is designed so that "consistent actions may have an impact in terms of how the world reacts to you and how the narrative plays out."
It's not about being a saint. The report indicates the system encourages more nuanced criminal behavior. A "professional" approach might involve incapacitating an opponent instead of killing them, or using intimidation or bribes to get what you want. Even small acts like picking up litter can reportedly help redeem a player's standing.
The developer's goal, according to the report, was to ensure player characters don't feel "too all-powerful." The Criminal Profile will directly affect how the story unfolds, allowing players to steer toward specific narrative outcomes based on their chosen brand of mayhem.
