Ubisoft Halts Assassin's Creed Remakes, Pushes New Projects Instead

If you were hoping for more classic Assassin's Creed games to get the remake treatment, you're out of luck for the foreseeable future. According to a report from IGN, Ubisoft has confirmed it is not developing any further remakes in the series at this time.

The publisher made the announcement in a recent update on the franchise's future, per IGN. While last year's Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was a hit, the company stated its development teams are now fully focused on creating brand-new entries.

Ubisoft directly addressed fan hopes for remakes of earlier titles like the original Assassin's Creed or Assassin's Creed 2. The company acknowledged the lessons learned from the Black Flag project but called it a "massive undertaking," as reported by IGN.

Instead of more remakes, the studio's resources are going toward future games, including the previously announced Codename Hexe and other unannounced projects featuring new stories and settings. As noted by VGC and Rock Paper Shotgun, updates on Hexe and the multiplayer project Invictus were also part of the broader announcement.

While the door isn't permanently closed on revisiting older games, Ubisoft's current pipeline is all about moving forward. For now, the era of Assassin's Creed remakes is on hold.
