Jeremy Renner and Josh Brolin to Star in True Survival Thriller 'A Speck in the Sea'
Hawkeye and Thanos are trading superheroics for a life-or-death rescue mission. Jeremy Renner and Josh Brolin will headline the survival thriller 'A Speck in the Sea,' per MovieWeb.
The film, based on a true 2013 story, will see Brolin play a Montauk lobster fisherman who falls overboard into the Atlantic in the middle of the night. Renner is set to portray his best friend and fishing partner, who wakes up to find him missing and must lead a frantic, multi-state search.
Oscar-winning director Orlando von Einsiedel ('The White Helmets') will helm the project. The screenplay is by Oscar nominee Jeff Pope ('Philomena'), according to the report.
Producer Mark Bauch said the project has a personal connection, having spent time with the real fishermen, and praised Renner and Brolin for bringing the required 'grit, humanity and humor.'
The film is being positioned as a major sales title for the upcoming American Film Market, with 193 CEO Patrick Wachsberger calling it a 'wild true story of survival' and a 'gripping, moving cinematic experience.'
