Keanu Reeves Returns to Voice John Wick in Animated Prequel Movie

Keanu Reeves is locked in to voice the iconic assassin once more. According to Variety, he has formally closed a deal to star in Lionsgate's upcoming animated prequel film focusing on John Wick.

The story will delve into the character's past, specifically showing his completion of the legendary Impossible Task. As reported by outlets, this mission required Wick to eliminate all his rivals in a single night, a feat that secured his freedom from the High Table's control and allowed him to start a new life with his wife, Helen.

Shannon Tindle, director of Netflix's "Ultraman: Rising," is set to helm the project. The script will be written by Ryan and Kaz Firpo, per MovieWeb. The producing team includes franchise veterans Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski, with Reeves also producing.

Lionsgate motion picture chair Adam Fogelson previously hyped the project, stating, per Variety, "There is no 'John Wick' story fans are clamoring for more than the 'Impossible Task.'" He added that Tindle's vision for the story is "incredible."

The animated film is one of several expansions of the Wick universe in development, which also includes a fifth live-action movie and a spinoff centered on Donnie Yen's character Caine.
