Kingdom Hearts 4 and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation are being made by the same studio
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed his team is also the group behind Kingdom Hearts 4.
In an interview with Deadline, per Eurogamer, Hamaguchi said his Creative Studio 1 is developing both major Square Enix titles. He quoted company president Takashi Kiryu, who called 2027 the year for a "big fight back" for the company, with these games leading the charge.
Hamaguchi will oversee both projects from the studio level, but he is not taking creative control of Kingdom Hearts 4. The game is still being directed by Tetsuya Nomura with Tai Yasue as co-director.
The report also notes that Nomura recently confirmed the announced Kingdom Hearts anime series is officially in production, and he is consulting with its team. He teased that the single piece of released key art is a hint for fans.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled for April 8, 2027. Kingdom Hearts 4 is currently slated for the second half of that same year.
Separately, the article mentions a potential spoiler leak, as full achievement lists for unreleased PC games, including Kingdom Hearts 4, have reportedly appeared online.
