Kirby and the World Beyond Revealed for Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2027
Nintendo has officially pulled back the curtain on Kirby and the World Beyond, a brand new 3D adventure for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The game was revealed with a first-look gameplay trailer during a September 2026 Nintendo Direct, as reported by IGN and Eurogamer.
The trailer shows the pink hero exploring expansive, colorful open areas. Kirby uses his classic Copy Abilities, including a sword power-up, to defeat enemies and traverse the environment. Per Eurogamer, the footage also shows Kirby confronting King Dedede as a boss and eventually breaking through a wall in the horizon, revealing a new world beyond.
Nintendo confirmed in a press release, obtained by IGN, that the game will be a "new 3D adventure" where players can "freely explore an expansive world." The release is scheduled for Spring 2027 on the Nintendo Switch 2.
According to the reports, the 2027 launch window coincides with the Kirby franchise's 35th anniversary. Nintendo's Yoshiaki Koizumi stated that more details would be shared in the future.
Nintendo Life notes that the game appears to be taking a more open-world direction compared to previous Kirby titles. The outlet's report also highlighted the unique visual of Kirby breaking through the world's boundary, drawing comparisons to the film The Truman Show.
